Block Party, Art Sales, and Garage Sales: A How-To Guide

DATE FOR PARTY AND SALES: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2012

HOW TO TAKE PART IN THE SALES:

Selling:

Advertise your sale on our Garage and Art Sale page by sending an email to Phil Minkin (garage sale sellers) at pminkin@juno.com or Linda McKay (artists) at mckaylinda@mac.com. Please include the address, hours of sale (a minimum of 8 a.m. to noon is suggested), location (alley, art studio, porch), and a brief description of your offerings.

The sooner you post your sale the better, of course, but the final deadline is 3 days before the sale (Sept. 19). Meeting that deadline will also get your address on the printed list of sales that will be distributed at each sale site. OWLA will place an ad in the Journal World at no cost to sellers.

Sellers and artists are asked to contribute at least 15% of gross sales to OWLA’s operating funds. We look forward to your participation!

Buying:

Watch our Garage and Art Sale page for continuous updates to the list of sales to be held on Sept. 22.

HOW TO BE A PART OF THE PARTY:

Volunteers for Block Party Needed

The Annual Block Party will be Saturday, September 22, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Your help is needed! A big project like this is best accomplished with a large number of people each taking on a small part.  Just an hour or two can make a big difference; it’s also a great way to meet with your neighbors.

Time slots for a variety of jobs are available from 3:00 to 9:00 on the day of the party.  Details are on the Block Party Volunteers page on this site.  The chair of the party is David Carttar and you can contact him at david@carttar.net or 691-8001.

Date for Block Party and Garage Sales and Art Sales is Set: September 22

Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 22 — the date for OWLA’s annual Block Party in the 700 Block of Mississippi.  The time is 6 to 9 p.m. Bring a dish to share and join the fun!

On the same day, September 22, the Annual OWL Garage Sales and Art Sales will be held throughout the neighborhood.

Buyers should watch this space closely for continuous updates to the list of sales and addresses.

Sellers and artists should send an email to Phil Minkin (garage sale sellers) (pminkin@juno.com) or Linda McKay (artists) (mckaylinda@mac.com) in order to obtain a listing of their sale here on this website.  Please include address, hours of sale (a minimum of 8 a.m. to noon is suggested), location (alley, art studio, porch), and a brief description of your offerings.

The earliest posting possible is best of course, but the final deadline is 3 days before the sale (Sept. 19).  Meeting that deadline will also get your address on the printed list of sales that will be distributed at each sale site.  OWLA will place an ad in the Journal World.
